A new baby on the homestead

Well everyone, welcome our newest addition...... Aaron. Today after school we traveled a little over an hour and picked him up. He is 3 days old and as you can tell the kiddos were VERY excited :-) We had planned to name him Cullen but the lovely family we got him from had felt called to name him Aaron, and also had a verse laid on their hearts for him.
"he Lord has been mindful of us; He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron; He will bless those who fear the Lord, both small and great. " Psalm 115:12,13

This touched me greatly and gave me much reassurance that we are doing as God has laid out for us to do.

It was quite a drive today....... these were our roads...lol....but ALOT of muddin fun as Bella said lol.... I would love to live out like this.....

I think Aaron and Bella both enjoyed the ride home :-)

Isnt he just a beauty!!!!!

And heaven was smiling on us the entire way home.....

then a quick stop at memaws with the new baby

He was so proud he could pick him up alone
and he is so funny, he follows Bella around like a dog lol, actually better than our dogs

first feeding at home

all settled in for bed.....
until next time........ God bless from our homestead to yours :-)

for those wondering this is how we keep our babies warm...lol, maybe one day we wil make a good brooder

Talking to the BEST manager ever at tractor supply today she suggest I change the babies feed, here is to hoping it helps with them smelling so terribly bad

Give it to God......

So, I sit here at the kitchen table in a VERY quite house, all the animals....including Jordan lol, are asleep, As I sit here paying bills and looking over paperwork I cant help but reflect how much God has changed life around here in the past few years.

A lot of people have asked "what in the world has happened to you? you have changed completely" Well I guess you can say, lay a 5 year plan out and watch God laugh. For those of you who have wondered about our 5 year plan it all started in 2011. We decided we wanted to become less dependant on the world and its system. The whole first year was completely about learning EVERYTHING I could, I bought so many books and spent so much time on the internet and talking to those who knew what they were doing. We wanted to try to be 50 percent self sustained off our property within 5 years :-), well...... God took off with our plan and has provided everything we need and then some. I have worked harder in the past 2 years than all the others in my life lol, and last year the first year to do a BIG garden, we had the worst drought ever in my lifetime.....but I didn't give up and I worked that garden all the way to fall. We now have 15 full size chickens , 2 cats, 2 dogs, a goat , a cow and 9 baby chicks we just got this past weekend. we will also be starting our own seeds in greenhouse this spring . My wonderful husband has spent every spare second that he has at home building coops and shelters and so on. Not only have we learned so much about farming (as much as can be done on 3 acres lol ) but our children(as well as us) are learning the value of hard work outside your paying job. very little time has been spent watching tv, except the kids nightly "leave it to beaver" and everyday at least an hour is spent outside doing work, rain , snow, don't matter still has to be done. we have enjoyed the winter by the fireplace and the rewards of how hours of hauling and stacking wood, with a firelit house. God has also led us to a great church family and a great program for the kids. He has poured his word into our families minds and hearts .  Lots of decisions have had to be made along the way and as we are starting year 3 God is presenting us with so many options...... I cant wait to see what he is preparing us for and what he has in store for our family. He truly is an amazing God we serve and what better than to watch his plans unfold.
Until next time..... God bless from our homestead to yours :-)
